THE Austin Powers epic Goldmember has had a smashing US debut.
Yeah baby.
The bell-bottomed super spy raked in more than $A133million at the American box office on the weekend and set a new record for a comedy.
Goldmember is the third Powers flick by creator Mike Myers, left, which spoof Hollywood spy films in general, and the 40-year-old, James Bond mega-franchise, specifically.
So one might think the very bloke the films poke fun at might be a little shaken if not stirred when meeting Myers.
Not so, said Irish-born actor Pierce Brosnan, right.
The current 007 said he met a lemonade-sipping Myers at a Hollywood party a few weeks ago.
And had a go at him.
Brosnan told reporters he walked up to Myers, introduced himself and said: `So you're the guy that's been taking the p**s out of me.'
Myers apparently countered with a cocky `that's right'.
Egos aside, Brosnan, who stars in the upcoming Bond movie, Die Another Day, said he enjoyed the latest Powers adventure. Then added a little edge to his praise.
`Whenever I find out where he lives, I'm going to smack him,' he laughed.
Goldmember is due on Australia screens in September.
